Viernes de Cuaresma in Xela, 11.3.11

I have just  mastered 125 hours of Spanish classes and this needed to be celebrated! By chance,  that Friday Xela was celebrating its first “Viernes de Cuaresma”.  Every Friday before Easter there’s a colourful market at different places.

It was exciting strolling through the market and absorbing all the images and colours and watching Mayan people dressed in their traditional costumes. The following pictures give you an impression of the day:
